Teaching Philosophy
Peter believes that all students are able to learn the art of practice through instruction. A flexible, two-pronged approach to teaching percussion can help guide this learning experience along. When studying with Peter, the student and the teacher together employ a balance of learning the fundamental skills of drumming through reading and counting rhythms, as well as learning songs and beats on the drum set that pique the student’s musical curiosity and excitement. A son of two music educators, Peter has always believed in carrying the torch of encouraging the artistic growth of people of all ages.
Teaching Experience
Peter has been teaching percussion lessons since he was a high school student in 2004. Since then, Peter has taught in a number of school systems and programs in Massachusetts and in New York. Currently, Peter teaches at Church Street School for Music and Art in Tribeca, Third Street Music School, Bronx Park Middle School, and private lessons in home and over video. He is also a member of the faculty at New England Conservatory’s Jazz Lab summer program, which he has been a part of since its inception in 2013.
