Teaching Philosophy
Nick’s teaching approaches are flexible, and are adaptive to the interests and learning style of the student. Nick believes that engaging with music that the student is passionate about leads to the most incentive from the student to dive deep into the process of cultivating the skills that are necessary to play what they want to play. Nick also focuses on developing strong fundamental skills, like reading music notation, developing the “muscle” of musical memory through melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic ear training, and dealing with the physical approach to developing healthy technique at one’s instrument.
Teaching Experience
A Graduate of New England Conservatory’s Jazz Studies Program, Nick has been teaching lessons since 2010, and ran a busy full time teaching studio from 2015-2018. Nick has taught both independently and through Jammin’ With You.
